It was a GREAT year for fireworks photos. It was a nice night, the show actually started on time (well almost, like 10 minutes late), and it was a really nice show. I was in a perfect spot for photos, and managed to nab almost 200 really nice ones. Last year I didn’t end up with any photos. I had tried, but after waiting till almost 11 (the fireworks were supposed to start at 9:30), I packed up and was just leaving when the show finally began. As it happened, the fireworks didn’t manage to clear the tree tops where I was sitting, so it wasn’t the best picture spot anyway. The year before (2005), I’d tried for pictures, but they didn’t come out all that well. Out of 200 photos, I considered 26 worth posting (and then only with heavy editing). Those photos can be found here. This year, out of 200 photos, 187 of them were worth posting – this time with no editing at all. I’d taken dad’s big lens, and was initially afraid I was zoomed too close (even with as wide an angle as the lens would allow), and that most of the fireworks would be cut off. A few were, but on the whole I was very please with how the fireworks turned out. The full gallery can be found here. I tried hard to weed down to my top 10 to post here on my blog. I had to be seriously ruthless in selecting photos. Even so, I just couldn’t get down below 20. So here they are, my top 20 favorite fireworks this year (is no particular order).
